We booked our 'Delux' 6 berth camper for over $250 dollars a day. Last time we visited Australia we did a campervan trip through Cheapa vans and all went well. We thought a 'Delux' would just be a little more comfortable - we were so wrong.
It was booked from 8am and when we arrived were told the window was broken from a previous client and had to wait hours for it to be fixed, losing most of the day (it remained broken however)
The Apollo Company in Cairns was overworked, understaffed and unhelpful.
Our camper was dirty, very smelly and had none of the little extras as promised. They even forgot the pillow cases and the pillows were covered in stains.
The battery, even after 3 hours driving, could not run the interior lights or fridge which made for a miserable first night in the middle of nowhere with a fridge full of ruined food the next morning. We had to run the engine overnight if we wanted the light on.
The grey water was 3/4 full on pick up and the toilet tank 1/2 full already!
We called to complain and the person dealing with our complaint was very pleasant and apologised and advised us to go and buy some pillow cases!
On returning the campervan we ran through all of the problems (we actually ended up booking into an apartment at great expense) and they assured us we would be refunded $400 but there is no sign of this as yet.
As an ICU nurse on a long awaited holiday looking to recharge my batteries and relax Apollo failed to satisfy and ALL batteries remain flat :-(
